j j j j j j j j j j j j j j j More than 40,000 people made their way down Columbus Dr. in Chicago this past Saturday morning, April 22, in support of the national March for Science movement. But more than that, 40,000 scientists, students, teachers, parents, kids--just regular people--came out in support of science. Of course, there were spectacular signs, impromptu chants, and just an overall incredible show of support for all things science. Before the march, the crowds who were within earshot heard speakers like Karen Weigert, the chief sustainability officer of Chicago of 5 years, and other frontrunners in scientific innovation and learning present their experiences with science. Following the speeches, the high-spirited marchers made their way towards the Field Museum where a science expo was hosted. The event raised $96,464, surpassing the goal of $85,000.
