Aspens

Aspens 2.png

Quaking aspens live in

Cooler regions -

Smooth white bark with blackened

Scars, like burns.

They have heart-shaped leaves

Which shiver

With the quiet sound of

Teeth chattering

Or a sigh -

Incandescent

Against a pistol gray

October sky.

When there’s a breeze you can see

A thousand hearts

In motion.
